PROPOSED changes to Hillsbus services in Castle Hill are causing residents considerable concern.
Some are worried that proposed bus stops would be outside their homes.
They say this would lead to an increase in traffic and make it difficult to enter and leave their driveways.
Neil Campbell, who lives in Applecross Avenue, said there were no complaints about the original route.
``It was fine and people were happy,'' Mr Campbell said.
``Now we have a proposal that isn't as well considered as it should be.''
Mr Campbell said that the residents didn't even know about the proposal.
``There was no community consultation,'' he said.
The present bus route goes through Knightsbridge, Gilbert Road and Tuckwell Road and then on to Parramatta.
The proposal adds Applecross Avenue and Yaringa Road to the route, but removes Gilbert Road.
``There is just no advantage to these changes,'' Mr Campbell said.
``Cars will be parked everywhere for people to get to their stops. Now they can just walk there, but withdrawing from Gilbert Road makes no sense at all. And Applecross and Yaringa are very narrow streets.
``The traffic congestion would increase.''
Residents raised their concerns at Tuesday night's council meeting.
Mayor Sonya Phillips said she would express their concerns in a letter to the Ministry of Transport.
Residents have also submitted an alternative proposal to the ministry.
Michael Richardson, the Castle Hill MP, opposes the proposed changes.
At a traffic committee meeting, he supported a month's deferral of the proposal.
He is now organising a meeting with advisers of Transport Minister John Watkins so that residents can have their say.
