TOM Solomon simply loves his footy.
The Rouse Hill Renegades Rugby Union player admits he has ``had a ball'' over the years playing the sport.
``I really enjoy it I love the game,'' Solomon, 30, said.
He was selected for the NSW Suburban Rugby Union team that played on Saturday night against NSW Country.
The game was a curtain-raiser for the NSW Waratahs and South African Sharks (Waratahs defeated Sharks 25-10) at Sydney Football Stadium.
The NSW Suburban team was also a winner on the night, snatching a 19-12 win.
``It's another normal game of footy,'' Solomon said before the game.
``I will just get out there and do what I have to do. It's pretty exciting though.''
Solomon was selected for the NSW side from a squad of 30 that was then narrowed down to 22.
``I was quite thrilled I made selection,'' he said.
Aside from his NSW selection, Solomon is known as one of the top players for the Renegades' first grade side.
In his first season with the club last year (its inaugural season), Solomon scored 34 tries. He was also named player of the competition in the Jeffery Cup last season.
``I was very honoured to receive that, it was a good season,'' he said.
``It's great to have the support of the Renegades. They are a great family.''
Solomon had already enjoyed a successful footy career before he arrived in Australia in 2007.
He played at elite level in New Zealand and France and also played for the Heartland All Blacks against Argentina in 2006.
He admits he will ``slow down'' next year and move into coaching.
``I will miss playing, but I will still be involved in the game,'' he said.
``Coaching will be a good challenge.''
Renegades president Glenn Smith said the club was ``very proud'' of Solomon's efforts.
``We are thrilled for him. It is unheard of that someone from such a new club as ours ever makes this [the state] team,'' Smith said.
